Nagoya advises 470,000 residents to evacuate
Nagoya City in central Japan has advised about 470,000 residents in over 200,000 households to evacuate as the water levels of nearby rivers continue to rise.
The advisories have been issued to 273,000 residents in 4 districts near the Tenpaku River and to 196,000 people in 2 districts along the Shonai River.
City workers are now constructing emergency shelters for the evacuees.
